This note summarizes a report prepared by Lighting Africa in 2011 to identify key policy barriers to the adoption of off-grid modern lighting products in Sub-Saharan Africa, and offers recommendations for improvement. Recommendations include incorporating modern lighting strategies into overall government development and poverty reduction strategies, and ensuring that the widest possible access to modern lighting is achieved, particularly among the poor.
