This report maps the availability of, and access to, off-grid lighting products in Mali. It finds that access to affordable lighting is limited and that solar portable lanterns (SPLs) can fulfill this lighting need in a sustainable way. The main challenges faced by new players distributing SPLs include low awareness of the product, low affordability and limited access to financing for consumers and retailers and limited after-sales support.
