Learn how to better design and apply end-user subsidies through our series of case studies

Following our webinars on the experiences of implementing demand-side subsidies in Bangladesh, Kenya, Rwanda and Togo; the End-User Subsidy Lab is pleased to share in-depth case studies on these programs through our resources hub.

Each of these  case studies provides insights on different approaches to designing and implementing subsidies:

• Kenya’s Energy Cash Plus program provides a good example of targeting subsidies to the most vulnerable, by leveraging a social safety net program.
• Rwanda’s EnDev Pro-Poor RBF program devised a methodology to set different levels of subsidies depending on household income.
• Togo’s CIZO Cheque Program makes clever use of digital tools to verify eligibility of subsidy recipients and to channel payments.
• Bangladesh’s Solar Home System Program provides a good example on how subsidies can be progressively phased out.

These case studies are part of our ongoing work at the End-user Subsidy Lab, carried out in partnership with GOGLA, EnDev, and ACE. They serve to deepen understanding of what approaches work in different contexts, so as to improve the design of future subsidy programs.
