Renewal Testing According to the Market Check Test Method (MCM)
Time Estimate: Typically 6 – 8 weeks from start of testing
The Quality Test Method (QTM) results are valid for two years and may be renewed for an additional two years using the Initial Screening Method (ISM) with a sample size of two.
Random selection of the product samples that are to be sent to the test lab is required and must be arranged in advance through Lighting Global. Typically, a total of at least eight product samples, selected from a stock of at least 225 units, will be required for Renewal testing.
Any product that has undergone significant design changes since it was first tested may require re-testing of some or all of the re-designed aspects using a sample size of six to confirm its performance. In these cases, additional samples will need to be selected.
While renewal testing typically takes less than two months, we recommend contacting Lighting Global at least four months in advance of the product’s expiration to allow time for contracting, product sampling, shipping, testing and reporting.
If you choose not to perform Renewal testing, your product will be de-listed from the Lighting Global website and the product’s quality Verification Letter will no longer be valid once the two-year validity period expires. For more information, please read our Policy for Renewing Test Results.
NOTE: In June 2018 the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) published a new edition of the test methods used for testing solar products, IEC 62257-9-5:2018 (also written as IEC 62257-9-5 ed. 4). We will phase in use of these new methods between June – December 2018. This stakeholder memo describes the associated changes and expected timelines. Also, if you are interested in purchasing the new version of the test methods, first check to see if you qualify for a discount on this and other key IEC documents.
